First Aid & Riddor Policy
Statement
1. Policy Statement
South Cambs Equestrian Centre is committed to providing a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. We will provide adequate first aid equipment, facilities, and trained personnel. We will also maintain strict compliance with the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR).
2. First Aid Provision & Assessment
Management will conduct a First Aid Needs Risk Assessment to determine required resources.

The proprietor oversees first aid box maintenance and summons emergency services.

Qualified First Aiders: [of certified First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) staff.

First Aid Kits: Located in main customer areas including arenas
3. Accident Reporting Procedure
All accidents and near-misses must be reported immediately to prevent future incidents.

Log the Incident: Record the incident in the [Accident Book/Online Reporting System] before the end of the shift.

Core Information: Include date, time, location, details of the injured person, and treatment given.

Minor Injuries: Handled on-site by a qualified first aider.

Major Injuries: Call 999 immediately and notify [HR / Safety Manager]
4. RIDDOR Reporting (UK Law)
Certain severe workplace incidents, diseases, and dangerous occurrences must be reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). [

Deaths: Report all work-related fatalities immediately.

Specified Injuries: Report fractures, amputations, serious burns, and loss of consciousness.

Over-7-Day Injuries: Report accidents that prevent an employee from performing normal duties for more than 7 consecutive days.

Occupational Diseases: Report diagnosed illnesses linked to workplace exposure.

Dangerous Occurrences: Report near-miss events that risk serious injury (e.g., scaffolding collapse, crane failure).
How to Report to the HSE:
All statutory RIDDOR reports must be submitted by the [HR Department / Safety Officer / Manager] via the HSE RIDDOR Reporting Tools.
5. Review and Training
This policy is reviewed Annually or when significant operational changes occur. Next review due - 1st April 2027
